Porsche Cayenne Electric: wireless charging, electric doors and 105 paint colours for the new model year

Porsche published the model-year options update for the Cayenne Electric on 16 September 2026. It covers the Cayenne Electric SUV and the Cayenne Coupé Electric in Electric, S Electric and Turbo Electric form, and adds three things the model line has never offered: inductive charging, electrically operated doors and the Paint to Sample programme. Porsche calls it the most customisable Cayenne in the line's history, and for once the claim comes with a number attached: 105 paint colours.

Wireless charging first, because it is the one that changes daily use. Porsche Wireless Charging is three parts: hardware preparation on the car, a pad on its underside, and a weatherproof ground pad fixed in the parking space, indoors or out. Park over the pad, guided by the PCM display, and charging begins on its own at up to 11 kW, at roughly 90 per cent efficiency. That is wallbox speed without the cable. Motion sensors and foreign-object detection stop the session if a person or animal approaches, or if a metal object on the pad begins to heat. As of September 2026 the system is orderable in Germany and other European markets, with a staged worldwide rollout planned for every market with Porsche Connect, China excepted.

The electric doors work on all four. A short pull on the handle starts the movement and servo motors finish it, opening or closing, on a slope as well as on the flat. They answer to buttons in the cabin, the handles, the PCM Flow Display and the Porsche Digital Key from outside; the driver's door also closes itself when the seat belt is fastened or the brake pedal is pressed. Sensors halt the movement if something is in the way, and with the exit warning active the doors stay shut while traffic is approaching. Manual operation remains available.

Inside, the front seats gain a massage function with 4D audio: 16 air cushions and six sound actuators in each seat, five programmes, adjustable vibration, and the option to run the actuators with the music alone. It ties into the Mood Modes, with three new Wellness modes. The black-and-green Interior Style Package from Style Porsche and Exclusive Manufaktur was already on the list; the new Extended Package adds more leather, Delgada Green stitching, a leather and Race-Tex centre console front and rear, and Race-Tex sill trims.

Then the paint. The Cayenne Electric comes in 13 standard colours grouped as Contrasts, Shades, Dreams and Legends. With Paint to Sample from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the total becomes 105. The press cars show the spread: a Cayenne Turbo Electric in Sapphire Blue Metallic, a Cayenne S Electric in Ruby Red Metallic and a Cayenne Turbo Coupé Electric in Peridot Metallic.
