The Taycan is one of the few electric cars with more than one gear. The rear axle carries a two-speed transmission: a short first for acceleration from rest, a long second for efficiency once the car is running.

With the Performance Battery Plus fitted here, the two motors produce 571 horsepower on overboost and 650 Nm, driving all four wheels. 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.0 seconds and top speed is 250 km/h.

The battery is 93.4 kWh and the car runs an 800-volt architecture rather than the 400 volts usual elsewhere, which is what allows charging at up to 270 kW. Range is up to 512 km on the WLTP cycle.

The color is Brewster Green, a solid dark green with no metallic in it, ordered through Paint to Sample. It is not a quick order and it is not a color that turns up twice in the same showroom.
