The T takes the entry-level 718 and gives it chassis hardware that normally has to be paid for further up the range: PASM Sport suspension sitting 20 mm lower, a mechanically locking rear differential, Porsche Torque Vectoring and active engine mounts.

The engine stays as it is in the base car, the 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four at 300 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 380 Nm from 1,950 to 4,500 rpm, driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed PDK. 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.9 seconds, or 4.7 with Sport Chrono, and top speed is 275 km/h.

It is the lightest engine in the 718 range, and it sits behind the driver rather than over the front axle, which is the whole argument for the car.

The T is marked out by Agate Grey mirror caps, 20-inch wheels in Titanium Grey, black sport exhaust tips and 718 Cayman T decals along the flanks.

Inside are a sport steering wheel and black sport seats with 718 embroidered into the headrests, fabric loops in place of door handles, and Cayman T lettering on the door sills.
