Mercedes-AMG GT SUV: up to 1,169 horsepower, 700 km of range, and AMG's first in-house SUV
Mercedes-AMG's first in-house SUV, revealed 17 October 2026: GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63, up to 1,169 horsepower and 2,000 Nm, 800-volt charging at up to 710 kW. German list €113,050 for the GT 53; we import it to order and quote it landed in Thailand.
1 / 23Mercedes-AMG revealed the GT SUV on 17 October 2026 at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. It is the first full-size SUV the company has developed entirely in-house in its 59-year history, and the second model on AMG.EA, the dedicated electric platform under the new GT 4-Door Coupé. Three versions were announced at once: GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63. Stefan Weckbach, who chairs Mercedes-AMG, put the brief in five words: “SUV by shape. GT by nature.” The car is built at Sindelfingen, in a hall refitted for the platform.
The GT 63 and GT 55 use three axial flux motors. The GT 63 makes 860 kW, or 1,169 horsepower, and 2,000 Nm, and reaches 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and 200 km/h in 7.2. The GT 55 makes 816 horsepower and 1,860 Nm, with 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. Both hold 530 kW, 721 horsepower, continuously; the peak figure is a boost called up by pulling both paddles, and it lasts 63 seconds in the GT 63 and 55 in the GT 55. The GT 53 uses two synchronous motors and a two-speed rear transmission for 544 horsepower and 800 Nm, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and a 53-second boost. With the AMG Driver's Package, top speed is 270 km/h for the GT 63 and GT 55 and 250 km/h for the GT 53.
The battery runs at 800 volts with directly cooled cylindrical cells, in 106 kWh or, on the GT 55 and GT 63 only, 128 kWh. Mercedes quotes DC charging at up to 600 kW and 710 kW respectively, 10 to 80 percent in 11 or 12 minutes, and up to 454 km of WLTP range added in ten minutes on the larger pack; it lists these charging figures as provisional. WLTP range is 597 to 668 km for the GT 53 and up to 700 km for the GT 63 and GT 55 with 128 kWh. The car accepts five charging standards, CCS2 among them, and switches to 400-volt mode by itself on older chargers. AC charging is 11 kW.
The body is 5,084 mm long, 2,001 mm wide and 1,656 mm tall on a 3,040 mm wheelbase, with a drag coefficient of 0.27. A GT 63 with the smaller battery weighs 2,585 kg. AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ pairs air springs with active hydraulic pitch and roll control in place of conventional anti-roll bars; it is standard on the GT 63 and optional on the GT 55. Rear-axle steering of up to 6 degrees is standard on all three, as is AMG Performance 4MATIC+. Carbon ceramic brakes are standard on the GT 63 and optional on the GT 55, and both carry an active roof spoiler and closing front air slats. The boot holds 607 liters, 1,740 with the rear seats folded, plus 78 under the bonnet.
Inside, a 14-inch central screen is angled toward the driver beside a 10.2-inch instrument display, with a 14-inch passenger screen as an option. The software is the new MB.OS, with three AI assistants built in: ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini. On the GT 63 and GT 55, AMG RACE ENGINEER gives three rotary controls for throttle response, agility and traction, the last in nine stages. AMGFORCE Sport+ simulates a V8 in those two and a six-cylinder in the GT 53, recorded with 16 microphones, complete with simulated gear changes. A switchable SKY CONTROL glass roof and a three-seat rear bench are standard, with Burmester 4D sound and more than 60 MANUFAKTUR paint colours on the options list.
The GT 53 is priced at €113,050 in Germany, including German VAT, as of October 2026, with German orders set to open on 20 October 2026; Mercedes scheduled the GT 55 and GT 63 for spring 2027. The German price is not a guide to the cost in Thailand: an imported electric SUV of this size carries duty, excise and VAT that are worth calculating properly rather than estimating. We import the GT SUV to order and quote it landed, with duty, tax and delivery time included. Register interest below with the version and battery in mind, and we will come back with a real landed number, an honest delivery window, and a view on whether a higher specification suits the buyer better. Registering is not an order. The Mercedes-AMG cars in our Bangkok stock are shown below.
