This is the first car AMG built without an engine. Two motors, one per axle and both specific to AMG, make 658 horsepower and 950 Nm. This one has the AMG Performance package, so Race Start lifts that to 761 horsepower and 1,020 Nm: 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, with the limiter moved from 220 to 250 km/h.

The battery is the 400V lithium-ion pack of 107.8 kWh, with AMG's own wiring and management software, and range is 526 to 580 km on the WLTP cycle.

The chassis was reworked around the weight: rear-axle steering turning up to 9 degrees, which shortens the turning circle as much as it sharpens the car, and AMG RIDE CONTROL+ air suspension. The Performance package also brings the ceramic composite brakes fitted here, 440 mm discs with six-piston front calipers in place of the 415 mm steel system, and carbon fiber trim inside.

AMG's answer to a silent performance car was to give it a voice: the AMG Sound Experience plays a composed sound through speakers inside and outside the car, with selectable settings.

Night Edition is a United Kingdom specification, one of the two the EQS 53 was sold in there, and this car was imported from Britain. It is the darker of them: gloss black in place of the exterior brightwork, from the grille frame to the window trim and the spoiler lip, over 21-inch AMG wheels, with AMG body styling, sports pedals and leather throughout. Inside, the Hyperscreen runs AMG displays, the steering wheel is flat-bottomed Nappa, and red stitching runs over AMG floor mats and sill panels.
