BMW M4 CSL

The BMW M4 CSL is an absolute must-own for Bimmer enthusiasts—a track-focused land rocket that is faster, lighter, and limited to just 1,000 units worldwide. The iconic CSL moniker stands for Competition, Sport, and Lightweight. Driven by this philosophy, the engineers at BMW M GmbH aggressively stripped away any non-essential components, most notably deleting the rear seats and utilizing carbon fiber for the roof, hood, and trunk lid. These extensive modifications shed a staggering 109 kg, transforming this model into the most powerful production coupe in the history of BMW M.

As the definitive flagship of the M4 lineup, the CSL is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 engine tuned to unleash 551 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque spanning from 2,750 to 5,950 rpm. Channeled exclusively to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, this immense power catapults the coupe from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 307 km/h. Proving its track pedigree, the M4 CSL conquered the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife with a blistering lap time of 7:20.2 minutes.

Weight reduction remains the core philosophy behind the CSL. Beyond the deleted rear seats, the front occupants are held in place by full M Carbon bucket seats that save 24 kg. The addition of carbon-ceramic brakes, bespoke forged alloy wheels, and lightweight springs and struts shaves off another 21 kg, while the reduction of sound insulation and various interior trimmings removes an additional 15 kg.

The exterior design asserts its motorsport intentions with a redesigned Y-shape double-kidney grille accented in bold red. The aggressive front diffuser features aerodynamic side fins complemented by 'M4 CSL' badging, while the daytime running lights illuminate in a striking yellow hue reminiscent of the M5 CS. A ventilated hood and a distinctive 'double-bubble' carbon fiber roof complete the aggressive front profile. At the rear, the trunk lid integrates a dramatic ducktail spoiler that pays homage to the legendary E46 M3 CSL. The rear view is further defined by exclusive LED taillights featuring intricate BMW Laser technology, a prominent carbon fiber diffuser, and a titanium exhaust system that saves an extra 4 kg.

Inside, the cabin is steeped in a pure motorsport atmosphere, dominated by high-end carbon fiber elements. This lightweight material extends from the structural frames of the M Carbon bucket seats to a bespoke carbon fiber center console exclusive to the CSL variant.

To ensure peerless handling dynamics, the M4 CSL features a completely unique chassis tune, sitting 0.3 inches lower than the M4 Competition. The connection between the body and the rear subframe has been structurally reinforced with rigid mounts, complemented by specially engineered anti-roll bars. For ultimate track adhesion, the vehicle is fitted with ultra-sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, measuring 275/35ZR19 at the front and 285/30ZR20 at the rear. Stopping power is equally immense, courtesy of a high-performance carbon-ceramic braking system clamped by 6-piston calipers up front and a single-piston setup at the rear.
