The F82 CS sits between the M4 Competition and the track-only GTS, and for many drivers it is the version of that generation to have: most of the GTS hardware, none of its compromises.

It borrows carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic from the GTS for the vented hood, roof, front splitter, rear diffuser and lip spoiler, which lowers the center of gravity. The wheels are staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear inside flared arches, and the OLED tail lamps are a technology it shares with the GTS alone.

The S55 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline-six makes 460 horsepower and 600 Nm, driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed M DCT. 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds, the limiter arrives at 280 km/h, and the Nordschleife lap stands at 7:38. The adaptive suspension, Active M differential, stability control and M Servotronic steering were all recalibrated for the car.

Inside are lightweight M Sport seats in Merino leather and Alcantara, door panels in minimal composite with woven fabric pull loops instead of handles, and an Alcantara steering wheel.

This car is finished in Lime Rock Grey Metallic, the colour most associated with the model.
