Overview

The DB9 was the first car built at Gaydon and the first on the bonded-aluminum VH platform, which went on to carry every Aston Martin for more than a decade. Shown in 2003 and in production from 2004, it is the car the modern company was built around.

This is the 2013 facelift, the last major revision before the DB11 replaced it. The 5.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 makes 517 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 620 Nm at 5,500 rpm, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed Touchtronic II automatic mounted at the back axle, which is how the car reaches a near-even weight balance. 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.6 seconds and top speed is 295 km/h.

The facelift brought a larger grille, a new front bumper and carbon-ceramic brakes as standard, along with adaptive damping. The proportions did not change and did not need to: long hood, cabin set back, and a tail with the curve it has carried since the DB7.

The doors are swan-wing, lifting slightly as they open, and the body is Skyfall Silver, the color introduced with the 2012 Bond film. Inside is a 2+2 cabin in leather, with the material and stitching the marque has always been bought for.

Naturally aspirated twelve-cylinder engines are no longer made by anyone in this form, and the DB9 was among the last cars to carry one as a grand tourer rather than a supercar. This one is a 2014.
