Bentley has ended production of the W12. That makes this Continental GT Speed Convertible one of the last cars to carry it — a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged twelve, assembled by hand by a dedicated team of engine builders at Crewe.

It produces 650 horsepower and 900 Nm, driving all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. 0 to 96 km/h takes 3.6 seconds and the car runs to 335 km/h. The baritone note belongs to the twelve alone, and it is a large part of why the last of these are being put away rather than driven hard.

The roof is a Z-fold fabric design with acoustic insulation built into its layers, and with the top up the cabin is as quiet as the coupe's. It stows beneath the rear deck in 19 seconds and will operate at speeds up to 50 km/h.

Speed cars are marked by what Bentley leaves off. Chrome gives way to a dark-tinted matrix grille and dark lower grilles, with Speed badging on the front wings and 22-inch wheels beneath the arches. Inside, Alcantara covers most of the cabin including the thick-rimmed steering wheel, set against a piano black console. The seats carry Mulliner diamond quilting with Speed embroidered into the headrests, and the details are the ones Crewe is known for — drilled alloy pedals, a knurled aluminum starter button.

This car is specified as The Black. It is the most driver-focused open car in the Continental range, and with the W12 now out of production, among the last opportunities to buy one new to the line.
