Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: 1,079 horsepower, 350 km/h, and the roof comes off
Revealed on 28 October 2026, the Valhalla Spider is Aston Martin's first mid-engined open-cockpit production car: the coupe's 1,079 horsepower, 1,100 Nm hybrid V8, 350 km/h with the roof on or off, and first deliveries in the third quarter of 2027.
1 / 25Aston Martin revealed the Valhalla Spider on 28 October 2026: the open-top version of the mid-engined plug-in hybrid Valhalla introduced earlier in 2026. It is the company's first mid-engined open-cockpit production car and, at 350 km/h, the fastest open Aston Martin it has built. The car makes its public debut at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, and deliveries begin in the third quarter of 2027.
The drivetrain carries over from the coupe unchanged. A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft, built only for the Valhalla, makes 828 horsepower on its own: 207 bhp per liter, the highest specific output of any Aston Martin combustion engine. Three electric motors and a high-performance battery add 251 horsepower, for a combined 1,079 horsepower and 1,100 Nm. Two of the motors drive the front axle and vector torque between the front wheels; the third sits alongside the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and works with the V8 on the rear axle. There is no mechanical link between the axles, so Aston Martin's Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control manages drive to each wheel, together with the suspension, brakes, steering and active aerodynamics, across four driver-selectable modes.
The roof is where the Spider earns its name. A black fabric panel is standard; it lifts out and stows in the car, and with it fitted top speed is limited to 200 km/h. An optional carbon-fiber hard top removes that limit, so the full 350 km/h, electronically limited, is available with the roof on. With the roof off, the car reaches the same 350 km/h. A rain cover is supplied for when the car is parked. Roof-off, a wind deflector clips onto the windscreen header, lifting air over the occupants while drawing cooling air down into the engine snorkel, which has been reshaped and sits 35 mm taller than the coupe's. Roof-on, the deflector folds into three and stores in new 15-liter compartments in the sills.
Aston Martin says the technical differences from the coupe are confined to the active aerodynamics and stability-control calibration, retuned so the car behaves the same with or without a roof. Maximum downforce stays above 600 kg with the roof fitted. The carbon-fiber tub is a version of the coupe's, developed with Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the consultancy arm of the brand's Formula 1 team, and built using resin-transfer molding and autoclave methods from F1. The dihedral doors are now frameless and open more smoothly, and their glass is slightly more curved to make getting in easier with the roof up. A new carbon-fiber Touring Seat is standard; the coupe's more supportive carbon seat is a no-cost alternative.
Chief executive Adrian Hallmark lists what the coupe did first for Aston Martin: its first production mid-engined supercar, its first plug-in hybrid, the first use of its flat-plane crank V8 and of its eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Of the Spider he says: “High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box.”
For a buyer in Thailand, the roof is the specification decision. The 200 km/h limit with the fabric roof makes no difference on public roads, so the carbon hard top is mainly for owners who plan to take the car to a circuit such as Chang International in Buriram. For road use, the fabric roof, the rain cover and the sill stowage handle the rainy season. With first deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, those choices are made well before the car is built. We import the Valhalla Spider to order and quote it landed, with duty, tax and delivery time included, and we advise on the specification before the build slot is confirmed.
