The Maybach S580e is the plug-in hybrid version of Mercedes' long-wheelbase flagship, built for the passenger behind the driver rather than the driver.

This car wears a hand-painted two-tone finish, Obsidian Black over Diamond White Bright, with the vertical chrome Maybach grille, pop-out door handles and power-closing doors.

The rear compartment is the reason for the car. It is trimmed in Exclusive Nappa leather with MANUFAKTUR Piano Black lacquer and a Dinamica microfibre headliner, and the First-Class Rear Seating configuration gives two reclining chairs with calf rests, massage, folding tables and a panoramic glass roof. Quiet is engineered in: double-laminated acoustic glass, infrared-reflecting Illuminate glass and heavy insulation. Audio is a 15-speaker Burmester 3D system with sound personalization and wireless headsets for the rear, alongside four-zone climate control and wireless charging front and rear.

The powertrain combines a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with an electric motor for 510 horsepower and 750 Nm, through the 9G-TRONIC automatic to 4MATIC all-wheel drive. 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.1 seconds, top speed is 250 km/h, and the 28 kWh battery covers up to 100 km on electricity alone (WLTP) at up to 140 km/h.

AIRMATIC air suspension is calibrated specifically for this car, and the dedicated Maybach drive mode starts in second gear, softens the throttle and smooths the shifts so that progress is as close to imperceptible as possible. Rear-axle steering turns up to 10 degrees, which makes the long wheelbase manageable in city traffic.
