The hoop that started as a safety measure

The Targa appeared in 1965 because Porsche expected American regulations to outlaw full convertibles. The regulations never arrived, but the silver hoop stayed, and the current car turns it into theatre: the roof folds away in nineteen seconds with the rear glass lifting clear.

In Thailand the Targa suits the climate better than a full convertible — the hoop and glass keep the cabin usable in sun that would make an open car uncomfortable. Values track the equivalent Cabriolet closely, with the GTS holding a premium.

Porsche 911 Targa in Thailand — common questions

How much does a 911 Targa cost in Thailand?

Import duty and taxes put Thai prices well above home-market figures. Live asking prices for the cars we have are in the table above.

Targa or Cabriolet?

The Targa keeps the roll hoop and the rear glass, so it is quieter with the roof up and more distinctive with it down. The Cabriolet is lighter and slightly cheaper to buy.

Is a Targa practical in Thailand?

More than a full convertible. The hoop and glass shade the cabin, and the roof mechanism operates at low speed so you are not committed at the start of a journey.

What does the GTS add?

More power, a lowered and firmer chassis, the Sport Chrono package and darkened exterior details. It commands a premium used and generally deserves it.

Where can I see the cars?

At our showroom at 1290 Rama III Road, Bangkok — open Mon–Sat 9:00–18:00, Sun 10:00–17:00. Every car on this page is on the floor, not in a catalogue.
