Overview
When the F12 was launched at Geneva in 2012, replacing the 599 GTB, it was the fastest and most powerful series-production road car Ferrari had built. Its V12 won International Engine of the Year.
That engine is a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated 65-degree V12: 740 horsepower at 8,700 rpm, 690 Nm at 6,000 rpm, driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch with shortened ratios. 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.1 seconds, 200 km/h takes 8.5 seconds, and the car passes 340 km/h.
The bodywork was developed in the wind tunnel and shows it. Slim vertical headlamps sit either side of a wide grille feeding the V12, and the Aero Bridge channels air off the top of the hood and down the flanks rather than over the roof. At the rear are the round lights Ferrari has used for decades and an F1-style fog lamp set into the diffuser.
Unusually for the class, it works as a touring car. The cabin is genuinely roomy, finished here in red and brown, and there is 360 liters of luggage space behind the seats — enough for two people to cross a continent, which a mid-engined rival cannot offer.
This car is in Ferrari red on five-spoke wheels. With no naturally aspirated V12 successor in the range, cars like it are increasingly bought as collector pieces.
