Porsche 911 Dakar
Porsche 911 Dakar — The Most Unconventional 911 Porsche Has Ever Built. Featuring a Raised Suspension, All-Terrain Tires, and Off-Road Capability Unlike Any 911 Before It!!!
It is well known that all 2,500 units of the Porsche 911 Dakar completed production in November 2024. At the same time, the next-generation 911 Dakar based on the 992.2 platform is widely expected to adopt Porsche's new T-Hybrid powertrain, making the original 911 Dakar even more desirable among collectors. Target Car Center – Imported Cars is proud to offer one for immediate ownership.
The 911 Dakar features a height-adjustable suspension system designed to easily overcome obstacles and challenging terrain. Porsche conducted over 500,000 kilometers of testing worldwide, including more than 10,000 kilometers of real off-road driving across deserts, snow-covered landscapes, and other extreme environments.
Unlike any other model in the 911 range, the Porsche 911 Dakar was specifically engineered for off-road adventures. Ride height is increased by 50 mm (2 inches) compared to a standard 911 and can be raised by an additional 30 mm (1.2 inches) through the dedicated "High Level" off-road mode, activated via the rotary controller on the steering wheel. This gives the 911 Dakar ground clearance comparable to some SUVs, while still allowing a top speed of up to 170 km/h in its raised setting.
To maximize traction on loose surfaces, Porsche developed a dedicated "Rallye" driving mode. Designed specifically for rough terrain, Rallye mode delivers a stronger rear-wheel-drive bias, providing enhanced agility and control on gravel, dirt, and other challenging surfaces.
The off-road character continues with exclusive 19-inch front and 20-inch rear Dakar wheels fitted with Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain tires measuring 245/45ZR19 and 295/40ZR20. Featuring a 9 mm tread depth, these tires are designed to withstand demanding driving conditions while delivering exceptional grip away from paved roads.
The exterior is further distinguished by red aluminum tow hooks, widened wheel arches, rugged body cladding, protective skid elements, and stainless-steel mesh guards positioned over the air intakes for additional protection in harsh environments.
Porsche also worked extensively to reduce weight. The electrically deployable rear spoiler was replaced with a fixed lightweight design, while the front luggage compartment lid is borrowed from the GT3 and constructed from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic. Thinner lightweight glass, carbon-fiber components, and Race-Tex bucket seats further contribute to the vehicle's weight-saving strategy.
Power comes from a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine derived from the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, producing 480 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 570 Nm of torque from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. Power is delivered through an 8-speed PDK transmission to Porsche's all-wheel-drive system, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.4 seconds.
Due to the limitations of its all-terrain tires, Porsche electronically limits the 911 Dakar's top speed to 240 km/h. While this makes it one of the slowest current-generation 911 models in terms of outright top speed, it is a compromise that delivers off-road capability far beyond that of a conventional sports car. In fact, one must look back to the European-spec 3.2 Carrera, which achieved a top speed of 235 km/h, to find a comparable figure in the 911 lineage.
Today, the Porsche 911 Dakar has officially ended production, with only 2,500 examples built worldwide. This particular example is one of them, showing just 4,5xx kilometers on the odometer and awaiting its next owner at Target Car Center – Imported Cars.
